February 2017

Kathy is delighted to announce that Emily Nugent has become a partner in the Dickson Geesman firm. Emily started working with Kathy in 2010 and over the past six years has demonstrated sterling qualities as a lawyer, as a compassionate counselor to workers in need, as a courteous and professional attorney to opposing counsel in litigation, and just a general all-around wonderful human being. We are delighted she is becoming an even more integral part of our firm.

March 23, 2016

U.S. District Court Judge Cormac J. Carney orders judgment is entered for $5.4 million to Dickson Geesman clients after a nearly six-year fight, including an appeal to the Ninth Circuit over whether Arbitrator Richard C. Neal was biased in finding for Plaintiffs and issuing a large punitive damages award against Defendant Masimo. The Ninth Circuit reversed the District Court’s ruling vacating Justice Neal’s arbitration award and ordered Judge Carney to enter judgment for Plaintiffs. Kathy and Emily handled the case.

December 1, 2014 

Associate Zoe Tellman became an official member of the Bar of the State of California at a swearing in ceremony conducted by the Honorable John True III, Judge of the Alameda County Superior Court. Attorneys and staff of Dickson Geesman, as well as Zoe’s close family and friends, attended the swearing in ceremony and celebration afterwards.

The attorneys and staff of Dickson Geesman congratulate associate Zoe Tellman on passing the California Bar Exam. This was a significant accomplishment since fewer than fifty percent of those taking the test passed the Bar.

Dickson Geesman is pleased to announce paralegal Denise Kwan has joined the firm. An experienced videographer and skilled user of legal software and technology, Denise obtained her Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from UC Berkeley.

Kathy was invited by the Federal Rules Advisory Committee to meet with a select group of federal judges, in-house, defense, and plaintiffs’ counsel, discussing proposed changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the concept of proportionality in discovery in Washington, D.C.

Kathy receives the CELA “Joe Posner” Award at the CELA Annual Conference in San Jose, CA. The award is presented annually in memory of Joe Posner, to a CELA member who has demonstrated qualities that are consistent with Joe Posner’s philosophy. Joe devoted his heart and soul to educating, and energizing, other lawyers to pursue effective advocacy for those in weaker positions in life, particularly employees. CELA’s announcement says “Kathy Dickson truly embodies Joe’s spirit. Many of you know Kathy from her years on the CELA board, the NELA board and for her wonderful contributions on the CELA list. Joe was a mentor to hundreds of plaintiff employment attorneys and when he passed away, a void was felt.  Kathy has picked up the torch and has also become a mentor to countless CELA members.” Kathy is pleased her father, sister, and the entire Dickson Geesman office were present for the award.
